Language in Totnes is looking for an ambitious person to fill the newly vacated role of Director of Studies.
The successful applicant will become part of a small academic team and will be responsible for both academic and administrative aspects of all English language courses, as well as having part time teaching responsibilities.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the following:
Teaching:
- Teaching an average of 15 hours depending on student population
- Providing classroom cover in times of illness and absence
- Providing placement tests and needs analysis to new/existing students
Training:
- Organising internal and external Continual Professional Development workshops
- Providing teachers with ongoing support and training
- Performing regular observations to assess required training and development
Materials:
- Ensuring all published material is up to date and compliant with copyright regulations
- Managing storage and distribution of all published, audio and web-based materials
- Designing and implementing adult and young learner courses
Administration:
- Organising and implementing timetables, and room changes according to course needs
- Recruitment and training of new teaching staff
- Regular meetings with the School Manager
- Ensuring academic records are British Council and UKBA compliant
Applicants must possess the following:
- Recognised TEFL qualification
- Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
- Cambridge ESOL DELTA/Trinity Dip TESOL
- Excellent administration skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Enthusiasm and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A commitment to provide a high standard of pedagogy
- A full valid driving licence
