1. Teaching position - Language in London is recruiting now! (Temporary)

Language in London are looking for professional, dynamic teachers to teach our adult and junior courses both in-school and on location on our award-winning Cultural Experience course.

It is essential that all applicants have a minimum of CELTA + 2 years' experience. It is desirable that applicants have experience using digital resources and have creative enthusiasm to incorporate the use of these.

Contract: Temporary
Times: Shifts may be split 

Language in London is the first school in the world to win the British Council's prize for innovation in English language teaching. This is a boutique school with an emphasis on modern language teaching using digital resources. We are based in central London, located only seconds from the British Museum.

Job description:

  •   To teach General English to all levels
  •   To teach Intensive skills classes
  •   To prepare students for Cambridge exams (FCE, CAE, CPE)
  •   To prepare students for IELTS
  •   To teach groups and individuals (including special courses for closed groups with specific requests)
  •   To teach and help develop Cultural Experience programme 
  •   To design new and original teaching materials using Apple TV and resources
  •  To devise regular class tests
  •  To set daily homework and return written work promptly
  •  To keep up-to-date records (registers, lesson plans, administration)
  •  To take part in observation initiatives
  •  To undertake weekly student tutorials
  •  To promote learner autonomy
  •  To attend in-house Teacher Development sessions

Applicants must have minimum CELTA + 2 years' experience teaching both adult and young learners.

Salary: starting rate £16.50 per hour for CELTA + 2 years' experience and £18.00 for DELTA.

Holiday: 25 days per year pro rata + bank holidays

Location: London

Training and development in-house using Apple Media.

2. Language in Group Young Learners - Accommodation Co-ordinator

Job Description:

Role: You will work alongside a second staff member to coordinate the host family provision for our Young Learners Centre (Under 18 students). This includes host family recruitment, quality assurance, and student placement, all in accordance with external accreditation and LinG standards. You will be expected to maintain a constant communication with host families and management to ensure student welfare. As a group we are expanding and are looking for someone who would like to grow with us.

Report to: Head of Young Learners and LiT School Manager

Based at: Totnes, Devon, UK                                                            

Key responsibilities:

Recruitment and Management:

  1. Recruiting and maintaining the community of host families within the area to meet the needs of our client base.
  2. Ensuring the ongoing development and support of the host families through excellent communications and activities such as host family evenings, social events etc.


  1. Inspecting suitable homestay families according to the needs of the business and in accordance with LinG’s quality criteria.
  2. Maintaining accurate, up to date records of homestay accommodation, both paper and on the database, in accordance with Data Protection Laws.
  3. Maintaining records of accommodation availability, arranging placements with host families and confirming accommodation placements with students and agents prior to arrival.
  4. Ensuring that host families receive appropriate communication in relation to student matching.
  5. Being the first point of contact for students and host families and all their accommodation queries and issues. Taking appropriate action in response to these.
  6. Recording feedback from host families at the end of the summer/the student’s stay and communicating this with management.
  7. Ensuring that the safeguarding policies of LinG are adhered to at all times.
  8. Ensuring that all arrivals into and departures from Totnes are met efficiently and safely.

Flexibility of Working Pattern:

  1. The needs of the job does change throughout the year. You will be expected to work one day on the weekend in exchange for a day off during the week, evening work can be necessary, and you will have shared responsibilities of the emergency phone. Arrival and Departure times can also vary.

3. Young Learner Operations Coordinator

Job Description

Role: The Young Learner Operations coordinator works closely with Head of Young Learners and supports the team in a variety of office and other based tasks, to include bookings, social programme co-ordination, campus communication and sales where appropriate.

Reports to: Head of Young Learners

Location: LinG Young Learners Head Office, Totnes, Devon                                                                                      

Key responsibilities:


1. To process junior bookings (generate invoices, enter details, receipt payments, process reply packs)

2. To assist HoYL with preparing and sending pre-course information

3. To update  database  information - monitor  receipt  of  reply  packs  and  deposits/full payments

4. To compile documents in preparation for British Council and ACELS accreditation

5. To assist in compiling staff manuals and maintaining operational folders

Activity programmes

1. To research activity programmes for all centres

2. To book social programme activities and transport according to a plan and budget agreed with HoYL

3. To use the social programme template to create tailored programmes for specific groups

4. To keep records of all venue bookings and amend where necessary as numbers change


1. To assist where appropriate in the recruitment of all staff for Junior Centres

2. To liaise with the HoYL to prepare and conduct inductions and training for new staff


1. To accompany agents to Junior Centres where appropriate

2. To liaise with agents about their groups/bookings

To carry out such further tasks appropriate to your skill set as may from time to time be delegated to you by your manager.
