1. Head of Young Learners - Language in Group

About the role

We are currently seeking someone to lead our Young Learners team. You will be responsible for both maintaining a standard of excellence in all aspects of our summer YL centres in Dublin, London, and Totnes, and for identifying business development opportunities for our YL provision year round. This entails working closely with key team members to create systems of quality control, and supporting both the year-round and seasonal YL team in the provision of consistently high standards of teaching, social programmes and accommodation within a culture of innovation and professionalism. 

All employees of the Language in Group are required to actively engage in looking after U18s safely, follow the safeguarding policy and procedures, and provide appropriate suitability documentation before commencement of employment.

We are looking for someone has the potential to create an active leadership role within a team. The successful applicant will be committed to working creatively with the YL Academic Manager and YL Sales Executive towards meeting the needs of our current and future year-round and summer clients. We are growing. And we want a Head of Young Learners who will grow with us.

The role is a permanent, full time position. The successful applicant will be required to spend at least 3 days a week in our London offices, and will be able to travel to our centres in UK and Ireland as appropriate.

Qualifications & Experience

Degree (or equivalent).

Experience of management or team leadership within the EFL YL sector.


£30,000 rising to £32,500/annum on successful completion of initial induction and probation period.

2. Teaching position - Language in London is recruiting now! (Temporary)

Language in London are looking for professional, dynamic teachers to teach our adult and junior courses both in-school and on location on our award-winning Cultural Experience course.

It is essential that all applicants have a minimum of CELTA + 2 years' experience. It is desirable that applicants have experience using digital resources and have creative enthusiasm to incorporate the use of these.

Contract: Temporary
Times: Shifts may be split 

Language in London is the first school in the world to win the British Council's prize for innovation in English language teaching. This is a boutique school with an emphasis on modern language teaching using digital resources. We are based in central London, located only seconds from the British Museum.

Job description:

  •   To teach General English to all levels
  •   To teach Intensive skills classes
  •   To prepare students for Cambridge exams (FCE, CAE, CPE)
  •   To prepare students for IELTS
  •   To teach groups and individuals (including special courses for closed groups with specific requests)
  •   To teach and help develop Cultural Experience programme 
  •   To design new and original teaching materials using Apple TV and resources
  •  To devise regular class tests
  •  To set daily homework and return written work promptly
  •  To keep up-to-date records (registers, lesson plans, administration)
  •  To take part in observation initiatives
  •  To undertake weekly student tutorials
  •  To promote learner autonomy
  •  To attend in-house Teacher Development sessions

Applicants must have minimum CELTA + 2 years' experience teaching both adult and young learners.

Salary: starting rate £16.50 per hour for CELTA + 2 years' experience and £18.00 for DELTA.

Holiday: 25 days per year pro rata + bank holidays

Location: London

Training and development in-house using Apple Media.

3. Language in Group Young Learner Summer Centres- Staff needed for 2014!

The Language in Group (, an innovative and high quality group of English language schools, is seeking motivated, positive and creative staff members for our 5 summer young learner centres in England and Ireland.

In 2014 the LinG Young Learner summer centres will be:

UK: London Roehampton, Penryn (Cornwall), Totnes (Devon)

Ireland: Dublin (South & Central)

Positions available:

-          Director of Studies: Responsible for the overall management of the academic programme, including student welfare and behaviour, staffing and relations with clients.

Qualifications: First Degree and DELTA or equivalent, 5 years minimum teaching experience

-          Centre Manager: Responsible for overseeing the day to day running of a LinG Summer Centre. The role involves managing a team of activity leaders and an activity manager to successfully run a full social programme, and liaising with a Centre DOS to manage an academic programme and team of teachers. The Centre Manager will liaise daily with Group Leaders, students and staff to monitor quality and follow up on feedback. The team should maintain a high quality, safe and enjoyable programme in accordance with the Language in Group vision and mission.  

-          EFL Teachers: Responsible for delivering our hugely popular Dynamic English course, ensuring lessons are fun and motivating for our young learners (between 12 and 17 year olds). There are both full and part time positions available.

Qualifications: CELTA or equivalent

-          Activity Leaders

Responsible for planning and running a variety of sports, creative arts, and cultural activities, and supervising students on local excursions.
