1. Language in Group Young Learners - Accommodation Co-ordinator in Totnes

Job Description:

Role: You will work alongside a second staff member to coordinate the host family provision for our Young Learners Centre (Under 18 students). This includes host family recruitment, quality assurance, and student placement, all in accordance with external accreditation and LinG standards. You will be expected to maintain a constant communication with host families and management to ensure student welfare. As a group we are expanding and are looking for someone who would like to grow with us.

Report to: Head of Young Learners and LiT School Manager

Based at: Totnes, Devon, UK                                                          

Key responsibilities:

Recruitment and Management:

  1. Recruiting and maintaining the community of host families within the area to meet the needs of our client base.
  2. Ensuring the ongoing development and support of the host families through excellent communications and activities such as host family evenings, social events etc.

Administrative:

  1. Inspecting suitable homestay families according to the needs of the business and in accordance with LinG’s quality criteria.
  2. Maintaining accurate, up to date records of homestay accommodation, both paper and on the database, in accordance with Data Protection Laws.
  3. Maintaining records of accommodation availability, arranging placements with host families and confirming accommodation placements with students and agents prior to arrival.
  4. Ensuring that host families receive appropriate communication in relation to student matching.
  5. Being the first point of contact for students and host families and all their accommodation queries and issues. Taking appropriate action in response to these.
  6. Recording feedback from host families at the end of the summer/the student’s stay and communicating this with management.
  7. Ensuring that the safeguarding policies of LinG are adhered to at all times.
  8. Ensuring that all arrivals into and departures from Totnes are met efficiently and safely.

Flexibility of Working Pattern:

  1. The needs of the job does change throughout the year. You will be expected to work one day on the weekend in exchange for a day off during the week, evening work can be necessary, and you will have shared responsibilities of the emergency phone. Arrival and Departure times can also vary.   

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation, the overall business objectives of the organisation, and as delegated by your manager.

3. Language in London Teachers

4. Social Activity Co-ordinator in Language in Totnes

Role purpose: To ensure that clients are provided with a high quality social programme to facilitate and enhance their language learning experience in a safe environment.   

Role outline: The role requires advance planning a programme of events and activities, its effective publicizing among the school’s clientele, its professional delivery and evaluation.  

Reports to: School Manager

Role tasks:

Planning

  • To identify appropriate and varied social activities for our language learners in accordance with their profiles and stated requests, including Young Learner Provision.
  • To compile programmes and submit to the School Manager 2 months in advance.
  • To manage relationships with external providers, and ensure the school is paying the best prices for all activities whilst maintaining high quality of provision.
  • To liaise on a weekly basis with other school staff in order to obtain information for planning, and to share future schedules, and ensure that the database is updated.
  • To carry out all appropriate risk assessments for all activities.
  • To submit financial reports to the School Manager, and ensure the programmes are brought in within assigned budgets.
  • Liase with other social staff as required during busy periods to ensure that all activities are appropriately staffed and prepared for.
  • Complete Information packs for each activity including contact information, maps and wet weather contingency plans.

Publicity

  • To promote and report on all activities among our clients through the use of social media (Facebook, blogs, etc.), on-site poster display via classroom and social area television screens, and other media. A minimum of 5 posts on facebook per week.

Delivery and Feedback

  • To lead/accompany our clients on activities as appropriate, acting at all times in a professional and courteous manner.
  • To ensure adherence to all health and safety procedures during any activity.
  • To obtain and act upon feedback from our clients.
  • To undertake other duties as appropriate within your competence as directed by the School Manager.

Additional Role: Minibus maintenance

  • Ensure that the school minibus completes its regular checks and complies with road and legal compliance.

Timetable: 12 hours - 60 hours a week.   The role requires flexibility and includes evening and weekend shifts. Full time work is usually required between Spring-Summer each year.

Salary: £8.50 per hour
